Smoke Typography

For this piece, I started with the original photography and built a custom typography treatment using the smoke itself, shaping the lettering to feel like it was naturally formed from their breath rather than added afterward. The goal was to turn an ephemeral moment into the headline, letting the title live in the atmosphere of the image while keeping the focus on the subjects. I handled the smoke compositing, letter shaping, and blending so the type feels light, organic, and believable against the sky, balancing readability with realism. The final result turns a simple exhale into a graphic element, creating a playful, surreal cover moment that feels both natural and intentional.
